Well, this crazy year is finally coming to a close. 2020 is definitely a year to go down in the history books as being full of surprises and hard times. But even though this has been a year of turmoil and hard times, it has also been a year of tremendous blessings for me. Sometimes it doesn't even feel real to be able to say that but it's true.
Maybe this will be our year
For years James and I have said maybe this will be our year. Just as everybody does, we've had some hard times. Each year we'd dream and make goals and work hard to turn things around. We've just never felt like we were able to get to the place we wanted to be in life.
Not to say life has been horrible or that we've been through any devastating crisis in the last few years. For the most part life has been pretty good. We have definitely had our share of hard times and disappointing events that have happened but we've been good. We've fought through it all together and we've come out of each year doing okay.
But this year. This year has been different.
Taking a look back at 2020, this year has been great for us! Yes, there have been some difficult times because of this stupid virus. Yes, there have been hard things that have happened because our world is different this year. Yet we have also experienced some major things this year that have been great for us.
One of the biggest of course, was being able to sell our house and take off on our decade long dream of traveling full time!
Dreams are coming true
We've been on the road for a little over 5 months now. Sometimes I still find myself sitting and thinking about this in awe and can't believe it's real. We had dreamed about this for so long and it's been everything we hoped and dreamed for!
We've visited some incredible places, seen beautiful sights, and made some great memories already! Our journey so far has taken us over 15,000 miles. We've been to the northern border of the United States in Minnesota, to the beaches of San Diego, to the Mojave Desert and many things in between. We've traveled to nine National Parks, a Great Lake, some state parks, and many other cool places. One really great thing is seeing many friends along the way and making new friends too!
Business is GREAT
As I take a look back at 2020 I'm super thankful for the success of my Scentsy business. If I'm being totally honest, when we started preparing to sell everything and take off to live on the road, I was a little worried about how this would affect things.
I knew I could run the business from anywhere as long as I have internet, but after being in business for over 9 years, I'd developed a routine with how I ran my business. I had certain systems in place and events that I did each year. All of that would have to change.
The results have been phenomenal. Not only has my business survived, it has THRIVED! I've had the best year ever with the last quarter being exceptional.
Just to give you a glimpse into the difference 2020 was for me, I have a sales goal that I set each month in order to achieve a variety of things I'm working toward (paycheck, incentives, awards, etc.). I typically hit my sales goal and many times go above it. Over the last 9 years I've even been able to double my typical goal three times. I was shocked each time it happened and so excited about it!
This year, not only was I able to do that again, but I did it four months in a row!! Something I had only done 3 times in the last 9 years, I've done 4 months in a ROW this quarter. It almost brings me to tears to share that because I'm so incredibly grateful for a business that not only makes me a great paycheck, but also allows me to be completely flexible in how I run my business and do it from literally anywhere! What a blessing that is! (Income disclosure)
So grateful for where we are right now.
We've had many other blessings this year and I won't go into all of them but for the first time in a long time I feel like life is exactly where I want it to be.
Of course there are always challenges and difficulties along the way - nothing is perfect. But the challenges we are facing today are nothing compared to some we've faced in the past and have finally been able to overcome. So as I take a look back at 2020, I'm just incredibly grateful for all the blessings I've been given.
Now to see what 2021 brings us!
